It’s a new year and that means New Braunfels and surrounding areas are gearing up to make it a year to celebrate. There’s lots going on throughout the rest of winter and into spring, so you won’t be left with a shortage of things to do.

Think you know a good chili? Think you can make the best? Put your recipe to the test. In addition to sampling great chili, visitors will be entertained, with axe throwing, wakeboarding from some of the best athletes in the country, and enjoying a full bar during this chili cookoff event.

 

Chinese New Year 2023

February 4 – 5, 2023 at Multiple locations across the Austin area

 

This multi-day entertainment extravaganza is in the heart of Austin’s Chinese shopping and cuisine center. Experience celebratory lion and dragon dances, kids’ face painting, and other family-friendly activities. There will be exciting firecracker explosion shows, pulsating drum performances, and some martial arts demonstrations. Food vendors and local artisans will be on hand, as well.

 

San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo Followed by Carly Pearce

Folkfest – Heritage Society of New Braunfels

Enjoy a 19th-century family heritage festival, fun for all ages! Early Texas costumed interpreters join troops of Buffalo Soldiers, Confederate veterans, and Revolutionary War officers to demonstrate what life was like in early Texas. Kids of all ages enjoy hands-on activities like brick making, candle making, clay play, clothes washing, and quilt making. Learn nine-pin bowling, a game with a unique role in the Texas Hill Country. Saw logs with a crosscut saw and play games from the 19th century. All of this combines with multi-cultural entertainment and delicious local food and drink to make Folkfest a fun afternoon!
