The Best Coffee Shops in New Braunfels

February 21, 2022

Move over Starbucks, you’ve had competition for a while now, and New Braunfels is in on it with several artisan coffee shops. If you’re a coffee connoisseur, steer away from the corporate coffee mill and enjoy a steaming cup of fresh Texas goodness. These coffee shops are independently-owned and each order is made with love and personal attention to detail.

2 Rivers Coffee

Locally-roasted coffee from Friday Coffee Roasters does excellent pour-over coffee, a brewing method that many experts consider to offer the best flavor from the bean. For something a bit sweeter, we recommend the very popular 2 Rivers mocha. Pair it with a delectable pastry or other breakfast option and you have the makings of a fantastic first meal. Dine-in and drive-thru options are available.

Crosswalk Coffeehouse and Café

Featuring flavored coffees such as the mandarin mocha and the s’mores latte, this coffee joint also features house-made quiche and other pastries. During the cooler months, a favorite among regulars is the wassail cider. They’re open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with outdoor patio seating.

Gruene Coffee Haus

As the only coffee shop in the Historic District of Gruene, it is run exclusively by women entrepreneurs. This family owned and operated business is the crème de la crème of Comel County coffee. They roast their beans in-house for an ultra-fresh and smooth flavor to their coffees. Try their savory Texas Pecan coffee or the gingersnap latte. They also offer beer and wine direct from Dry Comal Creek and fresh pastries from Hope Haus Bakery. With complimentary Wi-Fi, there is ample space to stretch out and get a bit of work done in a sleek yet rustic space for those that like to bring their laptops.

Kora Kora Coffee

Located in Gruene Lake Village, owner Josh Cunningham strives to offer high-end coffee to customers with varied tastes. Dare we say this coffee spot is pretty Instagrammable, with vibrant designs in a space that resembles an old schoolhouse. From a variety of espressos hand-crafted by the baristas trained from the Specialty Coffee Association of America, each cup is a true work of art. Try their signature cold brew as well as seasonal flavors like gingerbread and pumpkin spice, which are available throughout the year. Pair your perfect brew with a muffin, scone, or slice of coffee cake.

Wicked Voodoo Espresso

Using locally-sourced beans from Texas Coffee Traders in Austin, their signature drink is a blended Frappuccino with mocha and white chocolate – quite delectable and a favorite with the locals. Founded in New Braunfels, this coffee joint is as local as they come. They also offer a few fun kid-centric potions on the menu, so bring the little ones. Multiple locations offer drive-thru convenience no matter where you are in town.

On the Grind

Revolutionizing the way you enjoy your favorite coffee, they also offer flavored energy drinks, teas, milkshakes, lemonades, smoothies, Italian sodas, and whole bean coffee for sale. They have several locations in the area and they’re dog friendly! Bring your pooch and they can get their own treat.
